Safety & Compliance
DOT safety standards help keep drivers, their cargo, and most importantly the people around you safe. Whether you are a driver, owner or manager of a trucking fleet, you must ensure each truck stays within the DOT compliance standards at all times. The DOT compiles a checklist that all trucking companies must conform to. This includes items such as ensuring the driver carries certain documents in the truck, completes the right inspections and physicals, records hours of service, marks DOT numbers on the trucks and much more. It is important to stay up to date with these regulations and standards, and know which standards apply to your fleet to operate safer businesses. Violating DOT standards can cost you money, drivers, customers or even your business as a whole. Next Chapter Logistics LLC looks for the most efficient, cost-effective solutions for your business. We offer products such as bi-monthly trainings, checklists, and log books that make sure each truck is following regulations. We also perform regular safety audits on your vehicles and keep a record for future reference.

Bookkeeping
A reliable bookkeeping service can help your trucking business streamline taxes and recordkeeping. Our system will keep quarterly profit and loss report statements in order to accurately assess taxes. Paying quarterly tax estimates ensures you don’t pay additional interest fees or penalties to the IRS during tax season. We will help you calculate those estimates so you don’t pay more than you should to the IRS.
Also, having a bookkeeper who also files taxes makes it easier to file your tax return. Your bookkeeper understands your business and has been keeping track of your revenue and expenses all year. Then, you can spend your time on more important things.

Flatbed
The design of the flatbed truck helps to make loading up and to transport goods as easy and efficient as possible. A flatbed truck or a flatbed lorry is a completely flat level bed that has no sides or roof. It allows for the loading and unloading of goods and is used to transport very heavy loads that aren’t in need of proper or delicate handling.
It's bodywork allows loading of goods from the back, the top, and from the sides.
It is not used for goods that can be damaged due to rain and for abnormally large loads that require huge spaces. And since that is the case, the loads are tied down to the surface with ropes.
It is a very popular type of truck, perhaps due to its versatility. A flatbed truck is ideal for transporting oversized goods. You can also use it to transport a fleet of cars to an exhibition or a car show.
Intramodal
A form of freight transportation that moves goods in special containers on truck beds so they can be placed on rail cars or planes without needing repacking. In short, intermodal services involves the movement of freight in a container using multiple modes of transportation without any handling of the freight itself when changing transportation modes.

Hotshot w/ Trailer
Hotshot trucking with a trailer involves hauling smaller, more time-sensitive loads within a specific timeframe, and usually to a single customer or location. Hot shot loads are usually delivered using medium to heavy-duty trucks that pull flatbed trailers.
Hot shot truck requirements vary. Some hot shots need to be delivered a short distance, but others may need to go over state lines or even across the country.

Hotshot w/ Trailer
When shippers and brokers have relatively small loads that need to be delivered quickly, they call upon the services of hot shot truckers. When done right, hot shot trucking can be a lucrative business. With Next Chapter Logistics LLC as your dispatcher, you can choose to become an owner-operator — meaning that you own and operate a hot shot business under your own MC number. You can also lease on with Next Chapter Logistics LLC as your operating authority.
Hot shot trucking is often the starting point for many drivers. As insurance requirements become more and more strict, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is trying to steer new drivers away from earning their commercial driver’s license (CDL) and then immediately buying a semi truck — a career move that often leads to failure.
Instead, the more strategic move is to build up driving experience on a hot shot truck while your CDL matures, that way if you decide to make the jump to a semi, you’ll have a much easier time getting qualified for insurance. Plus, the regulations and requirements for operating a hot shot and semi business largely overlap, so cutting your teeth in the hot shot world is the perfect preparation for making the leap to transporting larger freight (if that’s the career path you’re interested in). Another significant advantage of hot shot trucking is that there’s a lower barrier to entry and lower operational costs. These cost savings are often passed onto customers, as well.
However, because hot shot trucking is much easier to get into, you’ll be up against some pretty fierce and consistent competition. That’s why it’s important for owner-operators to really focus on quality of service to prevent competitors from underbidding.
